India AI Impact Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is formally inaugurating the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.[2] Former British Prime Minister Dishi Sunak stated that India is well positioned to lead in AI and demonstrate its mass adoption and deployment in society.[2]

Board of Peace Meeting: U.S. President Donald Trump is chairing a Board of Peace meeting in Washington where he will announce that member states have pledged more than $5 billion for Gaza humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.[2][4] More than 20 countries are participating in the meeting, and member states have committed thousands of personnel to an international stabilization force and local police to maintain security in Gaza.[2][4]

Nigeria Mining Disaster: 33 miners were killed in a suspected carbon monoxide leak at a lead and zinc mine in Central Plateau State, with 27 others injured in the blast at the mining site.[2] The incident occurred at the Zamfara mining site in Plateau State’s Bashad district, approximately 200 km southeast of the state capital Jos, with investigations underway to determine the cause.[2]
