Based on the latest available reports, major global developments include armed conflicts across multiple regions, diplomatic tensions between the U.S. and Iran, and humanitarian crises.

Armed Conflicts and Attacks

Russo-Ukrainian War: Russian forces have launched extensive strikes involving drones and cruise missiles, including Zircon missiles, across Ukraine targeting Kyiv, Kharkiv, and other regions following a brief moratorium on energy infrastructure strikes.[1] In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian drone strike killed two civilians and wounded eight others.[1] Additionally, a Russian drone strike on a minibus in Dnipro killed at least 15 mineworkers and injured seven.[1]

Middle Eastern Crisis: The U.S. military shot down an Iranian Shahed 139 drone approaching the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln using an F-35 fighter jet.[1] Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy gunboats attempted to stop and seize a U.S. tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, but the vessel continued its journey toward the Arabian Sea under U.S. Navy escort.[1] Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy also seized two foreign oil tankers allegedly smuggling fuel in the Persian Gulf, taking 15 crew members into custody.[1]

Nigeria: Armed bandits killed at least 170 people in the village of Woro in Kwara State, forcing residents to flee.[1] Nigeria’s military also reported killing senior Boko Haram commander Abu Khalid and ten other fighters during a raid in Borno State.[1]

Gaza War: Israeli airstrikes and drone strikes killed at least 23 Palestinians, including seven women, five children, and a paramedic, following a Palestinian militant attack that injured an Israeli soldier.[1] The Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Northern Gaza Brigade commander Ali al-Razayneh was killed in an airstrike.[1] The Rafah crossing into Egypt is being reopened for only six hours daily with strict travel restrictions as part of a Trump-brokered ceasefire.[3]

Sudan: The Rapid Support Forces conducted a drone strike on a health center in Kadugli, South Kordofan, killing eight civilians including five children and injuring 11 others.[1] A separate bombing by the same group at a military hospital killed at least 22 people and injured eight.[1]

Diplomatic Developments

U.S.-Iran Tensions: President Trump stated “hopefully we’ll make a deal” regarding Iran, while warning that if negotiations fail, Iran’s Supreme Leader’s warning about regional war “will find out whether or not he was right.”[2] U.S. and Iranian representatives are reportedly preparing to meet this week in Ankara, Turkey for talks.[2]
